In the context of Liberia, many high school students struggle to identify their unique talents, skills, and career paths due to limited access to career guidance, mentorship, and exposure to various professions. With the high rate of unemployment and underemployment among young people, students often lack the necessary resources to explore and pursue careers that match their potential. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), youth unemployment in Liberia is critically high, with around 60% of young people aged 15-24 unable to find work. Additionally, many students do not have access to professional networks or mentors who can offer guidance and connect them with career opportunities.
The Education Pathway: Self-Assessment and Career Development program will endeavor to address these challenges by helping students recognize their individual talents and skills, while introducing them to careers that align with their abilities. Upon completion of the Cognitive Development Training Program, students will be connected to professional mentors. This will empower students to make informed career choices, improve their chances of employment, and create pathways for success in their professional lives.
